Until then, find the first part of the story 'The Light is Gone' – one of my class stories, which I enjoy writing for groups of personally known children. There will be four parts.

The Light is Gone!
One hundred meters below the surface of the ocean lay the city of the merpeople. Clearwater was a sunken city that had once belonged to humans, but for many centuries, the merfolk had used it for their own purposes. It was a beautiful place with glowing corals, luminous fish, and radiant sea grass that shone brightly underwater. You’ve probably noticed that there are quite a lot of things that give off light there, but let me tell you, otherwise the place would have been pitch dark and not nearly as lovely and enchanting.
Many merchildren lived there too, and a particularly daring group among them was called the Clever Jellyfishes. There were fifteen children, and they played together all day, for example: hide-and-seek in the seaweed, tag on the seabed, races through the rock canyon, or riding seahorses at the fish farm, where they also helped take care of the fish. The children’s names were, by the way, just like yours: Ava, Charlotte, Emily, Fatima, Fran, Jacob, Julian, Kyle, Luke, Lucy, Mary, Marlene, Noah, Ryan, Remy, and Samantha. What a coincidence!
One day, the children had just gathered at the rock canyon when suddenly the light went out. That had never happened before! Not even at night was it ever completely dark. The glowing things dimmed, but not completely, otherwise nobody could have slept. The children had never experienced anything like this.
Frightened, they whispered each other’s names to find one another, then held hands. Just as everyone was finally reunited, they heard a sinister laugh nearby, a wave of water rushing past them, and a strong smell of ink filled the water.
Then everything returned to normal—except it was still dark.
